This variant of the Sweet Gum is familiar with British Condition allowing it to grow fruits unlike other variations of this tree. The Worplesdon was also the winner of the Awards of Garden Merit in 1987 and received it again in 2002.
The foliage of this tree is seed with deeply lobed leaves that create a pyramidal shape with some bright green foliage. During the autumn time the foliage is at its best with the leaves turning a yellow colour, through to orange and then into a bright red making the tree look magnificent during the Autumn time. During winter small spiked fruits can be seen growing on the tree and will continue to stay on the tree throughout the winter time. This tree is perfect for many different locations including gardens, parks and urban areas.
Worplesdon will perform well in most types of soils, preferring moist and well drained soils. This tree also is one that will survive well during winter being the hardiest of the variations of sweet gums.
