Liriodendron tulipifera ‘Aureomarginatum’ also known a Variegated Tulip is a variant of the Tulip that can be seen as a smaller tree when mature and comes in a pyramidal shape. It was introduced to the UK during the early 1900s and has since been awarded AGM award of Garden Merit in 1993.

Similarly to the Tulip, this tree is mostly known for its large green-yellow, tulip shaped flowers which can be found on the Tulip during June and July, although this variant has been known to flower at a much younger age with many small to medium trees starting to flower. During the spring and into the summer, Variegated Tulip can be seen with dark green lobed leaves which have distinctly variegated edges. These edges will lose the distinction towards the end of summer and will then turn a magnificent golden yellow during the Autumn months.

Variegated Tulip will thrive on most fertile soils and will grow well in many different settings with it being wind resistant. The medium size makes Variegated Tulip a perfect choice for any large garden and parklands.
