Prunus avium also known as the Wild Cherry is a native woodland tree to the UK. It is a very popular tree among parks and woodlands and is well known for its magnificent foliage and its beautiful spring flowers.

Wild Cherry can be found displaying light green foliage during the spring and summer periods which turn a magnificent orange-red colour during autumn providing a beautiful display during darker months of the year. Prunus avium also produces clusters of bright white flowers during spring months which allows it to stand out amongst other trees. During early autumn small cherries can be seen on the tree which will soon disappear before winter due to wind and birds. During early years, Prunus avium can be seen with a dark chestnut coloured bark which with age will turn to be a more silver colour making older trees look even more stunning throughout the year. The prunus avium will provide a beautiful range of colours throughout the year in any garden and with its rounded shape is very suitable for smaller gardens.

Wild Cherry is a very easy tree to grow with being full frost hardy and thriving in most, free draining soils. Best planted in a parkland or garden, not able to tolerate paving.
